Leavell first turned the old Chrysler hardtop onto the 4UR land, he knew he had found another one of the world's special places.
Charles, being a Stanford graduate with a degree in electrical and construction engineering, had no trouble rapidly improvising a rig on top of the car to hold their camping and fishing equipment, plus other necessities. It was wartime and almost everything was rationed, so he went across the border from their El Paso home to Juarez and bought several five-gallon cans of gasoline.
